How to Setup a IMAP Email Account in Microsoft Outlook 365 (Windows)
Microsoft has made some improvements to it’s Outlook Email Application making it easier than before to add a new email account so you can send and receive email. All ChemiCloud hosting plans include POP, IMAP, and SMTP access for your email users, as well as webmail access.
In this Knowledgebase article, we will cover how to add a new IMAP email account to Microsoft Outlook 365 on Windows 10.
Important Note:
Microsoft has recently switched the way it sells Microsoft Office from a one-time (per version) purchase to a subscription service called Office 365. This section covers the version of Microsoft Outlook included in Office 365 subscriptions.
Adding your first email account to Microsoft Outlook 365
If you’ve just installed Microsoft Office and haven’t added an account to Outlook yet, this section of the guide will walk you through adding your first account!
Step 1: Open Outlook. This can be done by clicking the logo in the bottom left corner of your taskbar on your keyboard type outlook, then select Outlook from the search results.
Step 2: When Outlook opens for the first time, you’ll see a screen that looks like this:
A. Enter your e-mail address.
B. Click Advanced Options.
C. Check the box next to Let me setup my account manually.
D. Click Connect.
Your screen should look like the one below, except your email address should be filled in:
Step 3: Outlook will display a list of email services and options for you to choose from. We’re setting up POP, so click IMAP.
After you select IMAP, the setup wizard will automatically proceed to the next screen.
Step 4: On the next screen, you will be able to enter your POP Account & Server Details. If the email account you’re adding is hosted by ChemiCloud, your server configuration will be similar to the one below, you would just replace yourdomain.tld with your domain name.
Your Incoming Mail Server should be yourdomain.tld
FOR NAMECHEAP DOMAINS USE: (domainname.com) i.e. excelmediagroup.com see Below
Under Port, use 993 for IMAP
For Encryption Method, select SSL/TLS
Check the box next to Require login using Secure Password Authentication(SPA)
Your Outgoing Mail Server should be yourdomain.tld
FOR NAMECHEAP DOMAINS USE: (domainname.com) i.e. excelmediagroup.com see Below
Under Port, use 465
For Encryption Method, select the drop down arrow and then SSL/TLS
Check the box next to Require login using Secure Password Authentication(SPA)
Your configuration should be similar to the one below:
Click the blue Next button to proceed.
Step 5: Enter the password for this email account, and click the blue Next button.
Step 6: Outlook will connect to the mail server to verify your account configuration and subsequently add the account to Outlook.
Step 7: If you entered your account details correctly, you’ll see a screen that looks like this:
If you want to add another account, you can do so by entering the address beneath Add another email address, clicking Advanced Options, and check the box next to Let me set up my account manually, and clicking Next.
That’s it! Now you know how to add your email account to Outlook 365 when you open it for the very first time!
Adding additional accounts to Microsoft Outlook 365
If you’re like me, you probably have a couple email accounts that you check periodically. This section of the guide will show you how to add an additional email accounts to Outlook 365.
Step 1: Open Outlook. This can be done by clicking thelogo in the bottom right corner and on your keyboard type outlook, then select Outlook from the search results.
Step 2: In the top left corner of Outlook, click File.
Step 3: The File Menu / Account Information panel will open. On this panel, click Add Account.
Step 4: A familiar dialog box will open! It’s the same Add Account dialog box we saw when we added our first email account to Outlook.
Step 5: Like before, fill in the email address you’re adding, select Advanced Options, and tick the box next to Let me setup my account manually.
Your dialog box should look similar to this one:
Click the blue Connect button to proceed.
Step 6: In an effort to aid you in configuring the new account, Outlook will ask you what kind of account this is.
Select POP.
Step 7: Enter the accounts incoming and outgoing mail server settings.
If the email account you’re adding is hosted by ChemiCloud, your server configuration will be similar to the one below, you would just replace yourdomain.tld with your domain name.

Your configuration should be similar to the one below:
